The scriptwriters of Tuba Büyüküstün and Barış Arduç's new film, "Terrence Bey," filed a plagiarism lawsuit against Eşref Rüya!

The film "Dahşet Bey," expected to be one of the most talked-about projects of 2025, was already in the news with a copyright dispute before its release. And this debate didn't originate in the backstage of the cinema, but in the courtroom.

According to a report by Birsen Altuntaş, writer Murat Menteş filed a copyright and plagiarism lawsuit against TİMS&B and the series' screenwriter Ethem Özışık, claiming that the script of the film "Dehşet Bey" starring Barış Arduç was used without permission in the series "Eşref Rüya".

Bringing together Barış Arduç and Tuba Büyüküstün for the first time on the same project, "Terror Bey" is adapted from Murat Menteş's graphic novel of the same name. The film tells the story of Terror Engiz, a hitman working for a secret organization called the "Fedailer Ocağı" (The Fedailer Ocak), who turns against the entire system for his forbidden love, Doctor Abide. While the film, which stands out with its dystopian universe, eccentric characters, and powerful action plot, hasn't even been released yet, allegations that its script had been used in another production have shocked the industry.

Menteş made the following statement in his statement dated July 12, 2025:

"The Eşref Rüya series was plagiarised from the film Dread Bey, which was filmed a few weeks ago. I filed a lawsuit using my legal rights."

In the press statement made through their lawyers, the subject of the case was summarized as follows:

“The script of the movie Dread Bey, written by Murat Menteş, was plagiarised and published.”

All eyes are now on the litigation process and the statements to be made by the parties.
